How Can I Help My Child at Home?
In Kindergarten there isn't much homework coming home from school.
However, there are many ways to help your child learn and succeed at home!
Kindergarten homework aids in the development of responsibility, routines, and helps
prepare for future home practices. Throughout the school year, your child will be
provided with three different types of homework:
Reading, Writing, and Math

Reading:
*Please try to read with your child for 15-20 minutes each night at home. 5-10 minutes can be used to read aloud to your child and the other 5-10 minutes allows your child to read to you. Some strategies to read aloud are listed below: Ways we "read" in Kindergarten -Read the words -Retell a story that has already been read to them -Tell a story by looking at the pictures -Find known letters and/or snap words Raz Kids: This is an excellent resource to use with your child! Your child will be assigned books on Raz kids. Please help them read through the books and talk through some comprehension questions. Your child will receive login information at the beginning of the school year. Please contact me with any questions. Link: www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login |
Phonics: Snap word lists will be sent home for each unit of phonics. Please practice reading, writing and spelling these words until mastery. Writing: Practice writing in any way possible! Write a story, a list, etc. to practice writing skills and spelling. Do not correct your child's spelling- phonetic spelling is ENCOURAGED and what we practice in kindergarten. |
